Gennady Golovkin Daniel Jacobs Negotiations update and thoughts. The WBA has extended the time period for a purse bid for the proposed boxing match between WBA Super World Middleweight Champion Gennady Golovkin and WBA World middleweight Champion Daniel Jacobs. According to WBA rules Glolovkin would get 75% of the purse and Jacobs 25%. A major holdup is that Jacobs fells he deserves a bigger cut than 25%. My personal opinion is that I agree with Jacobs, He’s big enough of a name to get more than 25% I would say 35% max, but 30% is more realistic in my opinion. Jacobs has mentioned that he is considering taking on a tuneup before facing Glolovkin which could put WBO MiddleWeight Champion Billy Joe Saunders in a good spot to at least collect a big payday. If Jacobs is really going to take a tuneup than Glolovkin may need to move up to Super Middleweight sooner rather than latter, and that Golovkin’s critics must accept that no one is lining up to fight him.
